So many ways in which great leadership is categorised but, in my opinion, (for what it’s worth) in the end great leadership in whatever form that may be looked upon is defined only by the amount of people who followed, and on that one you were hugely successful.

Thank you for your generosity, kindness, and the many open discussions over the years. I know there are many STC staff past and present that have hugely benefitted from your understanding, concern and kindness and many situations you went the extra mile without hesitation when others may have not.
Now to the important stuff. When people take retirement, semi-retirement, time away from business and at the same time nearing a new decade of their lives (not quite yet of course) there are some very important DO’s & DON’T’s.

At a certain stage in our lives, we may find ourselves considering adding chino trousers to our wardrobe, all fine, but if you find yourself considering a pair in pure white then walk away, if you want to dress like you own a yacht, please also purchase the yacht and always remember casual cotton trousers and chinos are 2 very different things.

Dyeing your hair. I am very happy to see that, so far, you have not succumbed to this. George Clooney has never felt the need so why should you. DON’T

Buying a sports car, a controversial subject this one and some say DO and some say DON’T, a vintage Porsche 911 is an absolute DO anything else is probably best to say DON’T and as we mature, getting in and out of this style of cars does not get any easier.

There are cardigans and then there are cardigans, enough said.

Take up golf…… your call

Continue your love of British TV comedy, the dove from above will always make you laugh, DO

Laying all day on the beach or by the pool DO, just make sure you can get up again without assistance.

We all see many people come and go in both my work and private life and it’s funny how each time we say, let’s keep in touch or let’s go for a beer sometime, sometimes knowing it probably won’t happen. But I say the same to you and if it does not happen, I will be genuinely disappointed, so Micheal, keep in touch and whether it’s in London, Zurich or somewhere else in the world, let’s go for a beer sometime.
